Skype can be installed using the 'skype' package, it is a 32-bit application, so it will pull in the corresponding libraries.

Q. I can't get ibus working with Skype.

A. First you need to install lib32-ibus-qt, then run qtconfig-qt4 and select ibus in the "Default Input Method" under the Interface tab.

Exit and save. This should work, but unfortunately there is a bug with the 32-bit library detection. A workaround is:

Run Skype once, then exit.

Next open ~/.config/Trolltech.conf and find the ibus entry in the i386 section, it will be incorrectly marked as x86_64, change it to i386, save and exit.

Restart Skype and ibus should start working.
